It’s 2019, and chances are high that you’ve probably been recommended a few podcasts to listen to. Maybe you’ve heard a few and even found your favorites. But have you ever listened to podcasts high? At My 420 Tours, we love living life to the highest by sprinkling a little cannabis on it.

We asked our team here at the My 420 Tours headquarters in Denver, Colorado what each of our favorite podcasts to listen to when relaxing with a packed pipe. We also got input from our friends and partners in the cannabis world. As an added bonus, we also listed the top weed-themed podcasts out there. You’re welcome.

Alyse’s Top Podcast to Listen To While High:

Ologies

My favorite podcast is called Ologies. It’s also hosted by a comedian, Alie Ward. She is a science correspondent who “asks smart people dumb questions”. It’s so interesting! She’s hilarious and relatable. Though I’ve never listened to it stoned. I love documentaries, science, and laughter after a joint, so it’s only a matter of time before I blaze and listen. It’s mindblowing regardless.

Recommended starter episode: I would start with Volcanology (the one about volcanoes). It’s also the first episode. That one blew my mind a whole lot, and I feel like if you’re stoned, you’ll be like “GET OUT”.

Cynthia’s Top Podcast to Listen To While High:

My Favorite Murder

I like to hit the vape pen and listen to My Favorite Murder. It’s a true crime podcast hosted by two standup-level funny women. Like all the best podcasts, half the magic comes from the stories themselves — you’ll get to know the facts, fictions, and unknowns about true crimes from throughout history — and the other half is in the banter. Hosts Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark play off each other flawlessly and hilariously as they obsess over real murder stories and dig deep into the details.

Recommended starter episode: Coincidence Island. I don’t want to spoil what happens when a handful of eccentric survivalists flee Victorian-era society and move to a small island in the Galapagos. But oh my god, the teeth! And the Baroness! You MUST give this one a listen.

Ben’s Top Podcast to Listen To While High:

Bag Man

Recently, I’ve been following Rachel Maddow’s newest podcast Series, Bag Man. It’s an MSNBC podcast but is focused entirely on corruption within our government, specifically within the White House, during the Nixon administration. Maddow and her producer interview the attorneys involved, share clips from Nixon’s infamous recordings and even reveal proof that Spiro Agnew, Nixon’s Vice President, was literally taking bribes in the form of bags of money in the basement of the White House.

Recommended starter episode: Start with the first episode and take your time while listening, avoiding distractions. There are quite a few twists and details, but each episode is played out in a fairly recognizable, easy-to-follow, investigative journalism style. I generally download the most recent episode and head outside to take the dog for a walk or hit the treadmill in the gym.

Austen’s Top Podcast to Listen To While High:

My Brother, My Brother, and Me

A good podcast that I’ve started to listen to is called “My Brother, my Brother, and Me.” It’s basically three grown-up brothers who are constantly giving each other shit. They answer funny questions that listeners submit sometimes, but mainly they just come up with great comedic topics and roll with it.

Recommended started episode: Big Debbie. One of the brothers makes a big purchase and the group has to deal with the repercussions of it.

If you’ve ever thought to yourself “I love advice shows, but the advice they give is too good and useful for me!” then boy do I have the podcast for you. My Brother, My Brother and Me (MBMBaM) bills itself as ‘An Advice Show For The Modern Era’ where the three McElroy brothers do their best to expertly answer the internet’s (or at least Yahoo! Answers’) most burning questions.

In addition to learning fun facts about horse bones and glass sharks, Haunted Doll Watch keeps you up to date on eBay’s bustling trade in supernatural doll auctions while Munch Squad, another recurring segment, explores bizarre new marketing tactics in the fast food industry. If you like coming up with weird nonsensical goofs with your friends and laughing until your sides hurt, MBMBaM (or any of the other McElroy Brothers podcasts) will be your new favorite thing.

Recommended starter episode: Episode 419: “Some Good JPEGs of My Favorite Matrix Characters” where the brothers try to figure out how they are going to celebrate their 420th episode because, you know, 420 is the “weed number”.

Justin’s Top Podcasts to Listen To While High:

Joe Rogan Experience

I’d have to say that my favorite podcast to listen to is The Joe Rogan Experience. Joe’s podcast has tons of guests, for each one of those guests comes a different topic. Joe and his guests will discuss an array of subjects, every one of which, is interesting and informational. They talk about EVERYTHING you can imagine!  I would recommend looking for a guest that you know or you’re familiar with, as to make it more interesting to yourself.

Recommended starter episode: One of my favorite episodes of The Joe Rogan Experience is episode  #1021 with Russell Brand, hilarious! 

Theresa’s Top Podcasts to Listen To While High:

Hot Mic

If I’m hanging out with a group of close friends and talking about sex, dating, and relationships I always turn on an episode of Hot Mic with Dan Savage for a good laugh. Hot Mic is a compilation of true stories about sex. These stories are told to a live audience in storytelling style hosted in various cities across America.

Recommended starter episode: My favorite episode is ‘Best Laid Plans‘, this is a hilarious story about trying to get laid’ for the first time when you have a monkey for a ‘sister’.  I HIGHLY recommend all of the episodes, but just that one is a true gem.

P.S. Both Joe Rogan and Dan Savage support the cannabis industry, which deserves a high five.   

Mike’s Top Podcast to Listen To While High:

StarTalk

Whenever I smoke I love learning about things that blow my mind. The only topics that really hit that point are space and science, where reality seems crazier than science fiction.  StarTalk — like many science podcasts — has an actual professional in the field as a host: celebrity astrophysicist and science communicator Neil DeGrasse Tyson. The co-host is an average guy: comedian Chuck Nice. While Dr. Tyson and some of his guests will blow your mind with out-of-this-world facts, Chuck makes them more relatable with his hilarious joke and quick wit.

Recommended starter episode: Some of my favorite episodes are the cosmic queries episodes where they field questions from their listeners. A good starting episode would be Extended Classics – Cosmic Queries Galactic Gumbo. In this episode, they field a wide variety of topics from cloning particles to looking back in time by viewing planets millions of light years away and even pondering what if the universe is just an experiment in an alien’s basement. This podcast will get you hooked and pull you in with every new episode.

Stuff You Should Know

I like to smoke a hash covered bowl of small batch cannabis from Seed & Smith and listen to Stuff You Should Know while cleaning my house. Hosted by the witty and clever Josh Clark and Chuck Bryant, this show provides insight on a whole host of interesting topics. These guys pick a topic and deep dive into it while using their charm to keep their audience engaged and enlightened. Their clever approach to podcasting has been successful for them over the years, as this was one of the first successful podcast to accrue large audiences.  

Recommended starter episode: The Disappearance of the Yuba County Five. In 1978, five friends set out for home from a basketball game. The next day, their car was discovered in a lonely mountain road. The next spring, their bodies began to turn up. What happened that night remains a mystery to this day.

Matt’s Top Podcast to Listen To While High:

The Drive

I am a long-time listener of Denver sports radio station 104.3 FM The Fan, especially The Drive featuring Big Al and D-Mac. It’s fricken hilarious. When I am in my car headed home from work, this is my go-to. Even if you don’t like sports, you will be very entertained and have a few laughs when listening.

I especially like all of their captured voice blurbs and soundbites they use on the regular. I am a big sports fan, and I really love the back-and-forth dynamic they have when addressing any current sports news each day.

Recommended starter episode: This is a daily radio show, so start with today’s!

Gage’s Top Podcast to Listen To While High:

Nuggs

I don’t really listen to podcasts; I live for live music. Though my top three artists are Big L, Frank Sinatra and Jim Croche they are not around anymore. I do spend a lot of my free time keeping up with some of my favorite jam bands. I use www.nuggs.com to stream or download current live shows. To ease my already busy mind of thoughts I prefer not listening to other people talk but to download a recent show of a favorite band (such as The Disco Biscuits) and light up a J and enjoy a nice glass of whiskey to relax.

Recommended starter episode: 10/5/02 Haymaker Music Festival, Spotsylvania, VA is my suggest place to start as this is one of my favorite shows from The Disco Biscuits!

Mia’s Top Podcast about Cannabis:

CannaInsider

One of my favorite podcasts to listen to lately is CannaInsider, a show about 420 industry professionals that covers everything from cutting-edge cultivation techniques to weed lube. The host Matthew Kind brings an interesting variety of guests to discuss all aspects of this fast-changing cannabis industry. I enjoy listening to these laid-back conversations while I’m working because it keeps me motivated and up to date on a lot of the innovative ideas coming out of the legal industry at this time.

Recommended starter episode: While there are tons of interesting topics, I really enjoyed Episode 229 about using the power of ritual to create familiar, more comfortable experiences for users. It also touches on the finer points of micro-dosing, which is a topic people should know more about!
